Shadow and Silver Lakes combined have many bays along their 11 km length, with a total shoreline of 41 km located between the communities of Norland at the north end of the lake and Coboconk to the south. These largely protected, landlocked lakes provide for calm waters and create splendid boating conditions including great water for canoeing, kayaking and sailing enthusiasts.

The flow and water levels of the Gull River/Shadow Lakes system is controlled through Dams operated by Parks Canada. These largely protected landlocked lakes provide for calmer water and less boat traffic than the larger lakes on the Trent Waterway,

The lake is long and narrow with an irregular often rocky shoreline with many weedy bays. There is a good concrete public boat launch at the north end of the lake,                              Shadow lake offers some of the best fishing in all of the Kawartha Lakes region with large and smallmouth bass, muskie, walleye, carp, sunfish and perch. The lake reaches a depth of 22 meters at it's depest and average depth is 7.8 meters. Located close to trails, shopping, library, fine dining and much more.
